Alcohol is one of the few drugs that most people are able to quit on their own. However, depending on the severity of your dependence on alcohol, you may not be able to figure out how to detox from alcohol at home. However, if you are an occasional drinker and have been drinking more and more here are some tips on how to stop yourself from becoming a full-blown alcoholic.
Get rid of the alcohol from your home. As soon as you remove the source of your problem, things will get better immediately. Having alcohol in your home is just another temptation to drink more and more until you become an alcoholic again. However, removing the alcohol from your home is often not enough. You need to avoid going into any store that sells alcohol. That means avoiding liquor stores, bars, and other establishments where you could get more alcohol.
Set aside a time where you can detoxify completely. This will allow you to complete your detoxification without any interruptions. A complete detoxification from alcohol can take up to three days. Three days will allow any residual alcohol to make it’s way out of your body naturally, and as long as you do not drink during these three days you body will have no alcohol left in it.
Use a cleansing product when going through detoxification. There are many products you can buy at a local health food store that bill themselves as colon cleanser, or say that they can purify your body through taking a pill or liquid. These supplements are a great way to clean your digestive tract out of the poisonous alcohol that might be left in it. You may experience increase use of the restroom, another great reason why you should detox from alcohol at home.
Make sure you detoxify safely. If you are trying to get rid of excess alcohol quickly, or through the wrong methods you may wind up seriously damaging your body or causing yourself extreme amounts of pain. Do not ingest large amounts of anything to clear your body from alcohol, it does not work. Also, use common sense and give you body a long period of time to clear itself from alcohol, as alcohol is a poison. By using some common sense and allowing your body plenty of time to clear itself of alcohol, you can easily detox at your home.
