By | Dec 30, 2011

painmedAnyone willingly or unwillingly can become a victim of painkiller addiction. It can also happen when a person has acquired injury or met an accident and have been prescribed a handful of painkillers. The habit can be quite bad for health and life-threatening. The term used to define painkiller addiction is opiate addiction as well. This type of addiction can make a person miserable as well as vulnerable.

It so happens that a person may feel a need or want of painkiller or opiate sometime when he feels soreness in muscles, cramps and other mild pain. When we have painkiller, we feel our body returning to normal. What happens more is that when we take more drugs the body and brain get used to it because the tolerance have already start to build up in body and you feel normal only when you have satisfied the mind’s thirst of these drugs. It is however not difficult or impossible to get rid of this addiction. There are a number of ways a person can overcome the painkiller addiction. Some of them are as follows:

SOME WAYS TO OVERCOME PAINKILLER (OPIATE) ADDICTION:

1.The treatment starts as soon as a person starts to realize he needs to get rid of this habit and this is also done through detox. In fact, detox is the first step to the road of recovery and all you do is to take out all the medicine from your system which has been accumulated. The best way to get rid of this habit is abstinence and once you do that, then detoxification is the next step.

2. Sometimes, when detoxification and abstinence would not work, the you need to turn to non-addictive medicines for support because it is a great step and cause a lot of discomfort once you have quit the addiction.

3. Taking hot baths also helps a lot. It is good if you dissolve 2 cups of Epsom salts in the water and then soak your body for thirty minutes. This practice if carried out regularly can help pull out the drugs from your body through skin and it is also advisable to clean the pores through loofa.

4. Another key to detoxification is drinking loads of water and carrot juice so the medicine can be flushed out from the system. Relaxation is also important and drinking chamomile tea can also be of great help.

5. There are various therapies and exercises available as well that can help you get rid of this habit.
